Recommended Devices & Hardware
We get asked all the time about hardware we recommend to support autotext.me. We put together this page to share some of the knowledge we have gained supporting shops like your own and also recommend some solutions we have found to work in our own shop.
“What tablets should I use with the autotext.me DVI?”
Since autotext.me is 100% web-based, there are very few requirements to run/operate our digital vehicle inspection sheet. autotext.me can run on Android, iOS, or Windows operating systems with virtually any web browser. Internal hardware of the device can have some effects on speed, so we suggest any device with at least 1.5GB of RAM.
Minimum System Requirements: 1.5GB RAM (Random-access memory)
Other Recommended Hardware
“What do you recommend for service writers?”
A recent study conducted at the University of Utah found that dual monitors reduce as much as 33% of errors and increase productivity by 16%. Service writers can effectively and efficiently complete more work in less time by having the shop management system on one screen, while having the communication and workflow program on the other. Monitors can be purchased for around $100 and options can be found below.
DELL Touchscreen All-in-One
To further increase productivity, we recommend touchscreen-based all-in-one PC for ease of use and reduced amount of hardware needed. At Golden Rule Auto Care (Where autotext.me was founded), service advisors rely on both touchscreen computers, similar to below, and a second monitor for maximum productivity.
